Ashneer Grover Ordered by Court to Remove ‘Petty People’ Tweet Within 48 Hours – BharatPe Case

Ashneer Grover, the former managing director of BharatPe, tweeted on March 12, accusing the State Bank of India (SBI) chairman of being “petty people.” His tweet hinted at a negative experience with the SBI chairman and suggested that the Supreme Court had also faced similar issues, indicated by the use of a winking emoticon.

However, the Delhi High Court has directed Grover to remove this tweet within 48 hours, emphasizing that it could harm BharatPe’s reputation. The court deemed Grover’s tweet as “completely avoidable” and noted that it implied innuendo towards BharatPe’s chairperson, who is a former SBI chairman.

Furthermore, prior to this incident, Grover had written to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) requesting an investigation into BharatPe’s shareholding. He alleged that the company had knowingly “defrauded” the central bank by reinstating Bhavik Koladiya, who had been convicted of wire fraud in the US. Grover also sought an investigation into whether BharatPe’s board and investors had manipulated Koladiya’s shares for their benefit.
