The highlight of the expansion is the inauguration of the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade stretch of the Green Line. This route, celebrated as India’s first underwater metro service, connects the vital business districts of Howrah and Sealdah. Commencing regular services on March 15, the Green Line will witness the first trains departing simultaneously from both stations at 7:00 am, with operations continuing until 9:45 pm. The schedule for the Orange Line sees the first trains departing at 9:00 am from both stations, with operations concluding at 4:40 pm. Unlike the Green Line, the Orange Line will not operate on Saturdays and Sundays.
